Arista Networks Acquires VeloCloud’s SD-WAN Business from Broadcom, Signaling a Major Strategic Expansion
In a move that underscores its ambition to lead in the next generation of enterprise networking, Arista Networks has acquired the SD-WAN business of VeloCloud from Broadcom. This acquisition combines Arista’s global leadership in data center and campus networking with one of the most respected names in software-defined wide area networking, marking a significant expansion of Arista’s cloud networking portfolio.
VeloCloud, a pioneer in cloud-delivered SD-WAN, has long been recognized for its innovative approach to securely connecting branch offices, data centers, and cloud environments. Its platform integrates application-aware routing, dynamic path selection, and built-in security features—all of which make it a natural fit with Arista’s existing suite of high-performance wired and wireless networking solutions.
By bringing VeloCloud into the fold, Arista strengthens its ability to offer a unified, end-to-end enterprise networking solution. The SD-WAN capabilities will enhance Arista’s existing offerings by extending its reach beyond the data center and campus edge, into the branch and WAN, where agility, security, and cloud-native performance are increasingly in demand.

The timing of the acquisition is also notable, coinciding with the first official day on the job for Arista’s new Chief Operating Officer, Todd Nightingale, former CEO of Fastly and a longtime networking industry leader. Nightingale brings deep experience in cloud networking and security, and his arrival signals Arista’s increasing focus on software and services-led innovation.
This acquisition positions Arista to take on an even more central role in the cloud-first, hybrid enterprise era. As organizations continue to prioritize distributed workforces, secure cloud connectivity, and application performance, Arista’s expanded portfolio now better addresses the full spectrum of enterprise networking needs—from the core to the cloud to the edge.
